Supporting Kids with Autism: Making a Difference

At Side by Side, our club is a vibrant and inclusive space where children with autism can feel empowered, supported, and free to be themselves. Each time we meet, we offer a variety of fun and purposeful activities, including arts and crafts, sports, DIY projects, dances, and more. But what truly sets our club apart is the one-on-one interaction each child experiences with a neurotypical peer mentor. These meaningful partnerships help foster social growth, encourage communication, and build mutual understanding. Through these friendships, kids not only engage in exciting activities—they also develop confidence, strengthen their social skills, and feel a true sense of belonging. By connecting children with peers who celebrate and uplift them, we help every child discover their strengths and realize they are capable of amazing things. Our club is designed to be a safe and joyful space where laughter is shared, milestones are celebrated, and every child knows they are never alone—they are always Side by Side.We believe that growth happens through encouragement, patience, and genuine connection. Every meeting is thoughtfully planned to promote creativity, collaboration, and self-expression in a way that feels natural and fun. Our mentors are trained to meet each child where they are, adjusting activities and conversations to fit each individual’s needs. Over time, we see beautiful transformations—quiet smiles turning into confident voices, and small steps growing into big achievements. We also encourage leadership by giving children the chance to help plan activities, make choices, and take pride in their ideas. Families are invited to be part of the journey too, building a strong circle of support around each child. At Side by Side, our club isn’t just a place for activities—it’s a place where friendships are formed, talents are celebrated, and every child’s unique light shines brighter.
